A clubber in life, Vin used to be a more social person; but now finds themself contained to the outskirts of society. With their loner lifestyle and Malkavian ‘gifts’, Vin can be strange and inventive at best; paranoid and off-putting or even downright mean at worst. Vin is fiercely loyal and sickeningly romantic when it comes to Alice specifically, but still carries a lot of warmth and acceptance for their friends. Easy-going and lacking in willpower, they are often dragged along by the whims of others. Trouble expressing their emotions combined with the overwhelming Auspex causes Vin to easily snap and switch their entire demeanor within seconds when under pressure.
Born on 14th of March 1980 as a second child to the family Vin was met with little expectations and equally as little attention from their parents. Having to fight for crumbs of parental love they found themselves on a never ending search for the subject they could excel in to gain the approval they so desperately yearned for. The task was made much harder by their brother - the picture of the perfect child, gifted in nearly every domain, yet filled with spite towards his own sibling. No matter the field Fabian would try sabotaging Vin’s efforts, the worst of which manifested through broken sculptures, “lost” materials and cut up canvases, all made to look like a streak of bad luck following Vin everywhere. Lacking any proof tying their perfect brother to the misfortunes accusing him of any wrongdoing would’ve been pointless at best. With little options left Vin gradually became better at predicting the brother’s next moves and reading his intentions. What began as a means of self preservation with time started getting out of hand though, making them increasingly suspicious not only of their brother but nearly every person and environment they encountered, feeling everyone’s intentions with alarming accuracy.
As years passed the malice from the brother never really seemed to subside, spreading into their parents growing even more distant than ever before. But the need to please them was long gone, replaced with the need to live solely for themselves on their own terms. After high school, Vin ended up moving to Chicago with their best friend Alice, cutting nearly all ties to their family. There, instead of pursuing higher education, they’ve immersed themselves in the city’s nightlife making money by taking small gigs, and often stealing or running all sorts of paranormal adjacent scams, putting their strange intuition to use. That way of life meant meeting all sorts of people, one of which seemed to understand Vin’s struggles better than anyone. Promising them greatness and prospects of finally making something of themselves, the sire led Vin to their death and Embrace on 8th of December 2002. Becoming a vampire didn’t necessarily change much in Vin’s way of life, in fact at first it seemed pretty convenient, additional skills made it easier to earn some money. However, needing to hide their new identity mixed with the Malkavian’s lineage curse getting harder to bear strained any relationships they had left, resulting in preservation of their own humanity becoming Vin’s main focus.
